The Social Media Content Designer role, part of our PR/Content team, is responsible for creating assets for use in social media marketing (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok).

The Social Media Content Designer role, part of our PR/Content team, is responsible for creating assets for use in social media marketing (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok). Social media programs may be stand-alone programs within the agency or they may be part of integrated marketing communications programs, requiring the Social Media Content Designer to collaborate with a team, align social media assets with the specific platform’s best practices, and consider the overall look and feel of the brand and any active campaigns.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities as Social Media Content Designer

  • Create visual content specifically for use across social media platforms

  • Conceptualize, create and edit social-first content in a variety of formats including but not limited to images, graphics, GIFs, and long- and short-form video content

  • Continually develop new and innovative ideas for elevating new and existing assets to further engage the intended audience through trending channels and formats including Instagram Reels and TikTok

  • Assist in planning and executing photo and video shoots specifically for creative social media content creation and activation; photo and video may be managed and captured independently by the Social Media Content Designer, or the Social Media Content Design may be asked to collaborate with the Creative team and agency photographers and videographers as part of a brand campaign shoot

  • Articulate ideas and communicate proactively with Social Media Managers to determine design, messaging strategy and conceptual direction for visuals to accompany the Social Media Managers’ post copy and calendar

  • Work efficiently to meet tight deadlines and short timelines in a fast-paced social media environment (turnaround times can vary from a few hours to a few days to a few months)

  • Collaborate with Social Media Managers to plan on-brand visuals that will engage digital audiences and align with the overall strategy

  • Proactively work with the Social Media teams to become knowledgeable about the brands, audiences, client expectations and project goals

  • Ensure deliverables meet brand guidelines and provide design consistency across each channel

  • Ensure work always meets timing and budget and exceeds quality expectations

Additional Responsibilities as a Member of the PR/Content Team

  • Stay up to date with the latest social media trends, applications, technologies, platform updates and best practices

  • Assist with brainstorming and campaign development

Communication Skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Listen well and solve problems to achieve the most effective outcome for the client, team and agency

  • Develop strong relationships across the agency

  • Represent the team and Wray Ward in a positive manner in all endeavors


  • BFA in graphic design, interactive design or user-experience design

  • Presentation of portfolio commensurate with experience

  • Minimum one (1) year of digital design experience, preferably in an agency environment

  • Strong conceptual thinking

  • Knowledgeable in photography and videography for social media

  • Experience with in-platform short-form video creation and editing (Instagram Reels, TikTok)

  • Understanding of graphic design principles (typography, color, layout, etc.)

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite applications

  • Familiarity with Bannersnack, Canva and Sketch

  • Understanding of Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Pinterest and how visuals are used across the platforms (formats, sizes, minimum/maximum length)

  • Attention to detail and a passion for creating groundbreaking work

  • Positive attitude and willingness to improve your craft

  • Ability to take constructive criticism with ease and grace
