The Public Relations Manager is a strong writer and creative thinker who activates integrated programs primarily through media relations, influencer marketing and trade show events.

The Public Relations Manager manages public relations programs and initiatives. They work collaboratively with program leads, senior PR managers and PR/content coordinators to plan, manage and execute integrated programs. Integrated programs can include strategic planning, media relations, thought leadership, event planning, social media strategy and execution, website and newsletter content development, and influencer marketing. The public relations manager may manage and activate all elements or may work with the team’s subject matter experts in social media and content marketing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities as Public Relations Manager

  • Work with the team lead to plan, define, complete and deliver client projects on time and on budget

  • Support the development of public relations initiatives in all forms for assigned client business

  • Manage daily proactive and reactive media relations activities, reviewing editorial calendars, identifying story angles and contacting editors, reporters and assignment editors while responding to incoming inquiries for information and coordinating interviews

  • Write content, which may include case studies, bylined articles, news releases, media advisories, feature stories, white papers, blog posts and social media posts

  • Plan special events, such as editor roundtables, product launches and more

  • Manage use of agency’s software to track editorial clips and produce and manage client clip reports

  • Work with public relations coordinators to develop reporting and reports

  • Manage relationships with influencers, including identifying influencers, managing product and paid partnerships, and ensuring fulfillment of partnership agreements

  • Understand how social media works with PR and be able to speak to its role in integrated programs

  • Work closely in conjunction with program leads, project managers, and Connections and Creative teams and directors to ensure an integrated program and seamless project workflow

  • Assist in overseeing the coordination of project quality to ensure highest-quality deliverables

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of public relations experience; agency experience or similar environment preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Strong writing skills are mandatory, including ability to quickly understand and write about topics in diverse industries

  • Ability to write for various formats, including breaking-news news releases, technical bylined articles, problem-solution case studies and feature stories

  • Proven media relations experience

  • Understanding of social media best practices and ability to integrate these best practices as part of an integrated program

  • Familiarity with media relations tools (agency uses Meltwater)

  • Familiarity with social media tools (Sprout, Hootsuite and Sprinklr) and content management tools (WordPress and HubSpot) a plus
