The Performance Media and Investments Director leads the development of activation plans and the implementation of digital performance and brand building media campaigns while leading and mentoring a high-performance team of tactical executioners across paid social, programmatic and e-commerce media, and direct media investments.
The Performance Media and Investments Director (PM&ID) must possess a proven track record of owning performance media and direct activation planning and execution from end to end, excel at improving operational efficiencies and team workflow, and be skilled at developing team members.
The PM&ID will have an expert-level understanding of the capabilities of each channel and the technology platforms across the digital media tech stack. Through this experience, the PM&ID will direct, build and lead a team of highly fluent platform experts responsible for crafting, executing and reporting client plans.
The PM&ID will work closely with the Integrated Media Strategy Director, integrated media strategists, Integrated Search team, Digital Content and Marketing Automation team, creative directors, client business directors, project managers, and the Measurement and Analytics team in all functions of the job — being a positive bridge across the agency and an active champion for the discipline.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities as Performance Media and Investments Director
Be the agency’s leading expert on digital performance media activation
Spearhead innovation across channels and the client roster to drive campaign performance
Actively demonstrate thought leadership to guide and advise our clients and fellow Wray Ward team members
Contribute to building and managing the agency’s media tech stack, determining the right platforms and partners for our clients’ businesses and managing talent to deliver better performing work across digital performance media
Develop cohesive activation plans and oversee the activation of paid media campaigns
Be responsible for recommending channel spend as part of overall program objectives to meet campaign KPIs
Maintain knowledge of clients’ businesses, competition and latest industry news and trends
Effectively lead client conversations and relevant measurement reporting meetings
Work with the Analytics & Performance Director to develop analytic reports and dashboards that monitor campaign outcomes and performance
Manage campaign progress and measurement process for assigned accounts across multiple campaigns
Analyze performance trends and work with the team to recommend optimization strategies and approaches
Communicate campaign progress to other team members, executives and clients through active participation in the preparation and distribution of client performance reports and presentations
Collaborate with the VP, Director of Connections, Performance Media and Investments Director, Integrated Media Strategy Director and other team members on new opportunities to drive results through audience and program analysis
Develop personalized training plans relevant to each team member’s needs
Conduct ongoing cross-company training sessions on technology and channel capabilities
Participate in the creation of proposals for new and existing clients, and support new business efforts as needed
Support client business directors with report explanations and campaign performance updates
Manage a team of 6+ professionals with technical expertise in programmatic and e-commerce media, paid social, direct investments and ad operations

Qualifications
10+ years of experience leading and managing high-performance media teams, with an in-depth focus on performance media campaign activation across platforms and digital channels
Bachelor’s degree
Expert-level understanding of digital media platform capabilities, including programmatic (DV360 and Amazon DSP) and social media
Expert knowledge of PPC optimization techniques and best practices
Strong strategic and analytical skills with a passion for details
Ability to balance multiple projects/clients and team leadership while prioritizing work with evolving and competing timelines, budgets and availabilities
