The Media Strategy Director is responsible for creating and setting the overall process for Media strategy and planning, with an in-depth focus and responsibility for the agency’s integrated media strategy and planning process, Integrated Media Strategy team leadership, mentorship and growth.

The Media Strategy Director (MSD) will also lead multichannel Integrated Media strategy and planning for assigned clients, focusing primarily on large media-led plans and/or B2C initiatives, will lead other plans as needed and will contribute to plans and oversee work as required.

The MSD's primary role will be to lead the agency’s paid media strategy and planning discipline. This includes overseeing the development of strategic media plans across all paid media channels for assigned clients, in addition to the research, development and presentation of media plans. The MSD is also responsible for professional development of the Integrated Media Strategy team members and the execution of their roles.

The MSD will have responsibility to lead assigned integrated accounts that include multiple Connections disciplines, such as media, PR, content, social and search through the Connections planning process. The MSD will review and consider media, PR/content, search and social media recommendations, insights and trends in plan decision-making. The MSD will be included in key media, PR, content, social media and search planning relating to integrated Connections recommendations and will be responsible for maintaining the strategy and integrity of the overall campaign.

The MSD will participate as the assigned Connections strategy and planning lead in strategic workshops and will lead internal team briefings and integrated Connections brainstorming/team downloads. The MSD will work hand in hand with Insights to develop personas and communications strategies and analyze media consumption and behavior and will delegate these functions as appropriate amongst Integrated Media Strategy team members.

The MSD will be required to bring creative solutions to client initiatives, working in conjunction with Client Engagement, Insights, Public Relations, Content Marketing, Social Media, Search and Creative team members.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities as Media Strategy Director

  • Lead the development and evolution of Media strategy and planning processes
  • Lead a consistent WW media strategy and planning process
  • Set the strategic media direction for assigned clients and oversee strategic media direction for all clients
  • Work with Insights to develop personas, journeys and communications strategies
  • Guide overall Connections and media team in planning processes for select clients
  • Oversee media strategy and plan development for specified clients
  • Present Connections strategy and media plans to internal teams and clients
  • Work hand in hand with the Client Engagement and PR/Content teams
  • Maintain effective relationships with clients and internal teams
  • Provide mentorship and guidance for all Connections roles
  • Build strong, positive relationships with clients and media partners
  • Maintain the highest knowledge of media channel strategies and networks
  • Bring new ideas and champion the use of integrated Connections strategies to reach audiences

Additional Responsibilities as a Member of the Connections Team

  • Play a key role in agency new business development, specifically related to Connections and media strategy
  • Keep up with the latest trends in advertising, the home industry and other client-related industries
  • Attend and actively participate in relevant team, agency and client meetings
  • Be an active participant in idea generation, brainstorming and creative thinking
  • Be a positive, motivating member of the team

Qualifications

  • 12+ years’ experience as an omnichannel communications planner in an agency environment
  • Extensive experience planning digital media
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively manage multiple projects at a time
  • Knowledge of the entire media landscape
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, demonstrating energy and passion for the work
  • Effective problem-solver and generator of innovative solutions
  • Focused on delivering great work, no matter how big or small the project
  • Well-versed in applicable software and using MRI data and other resources to build and support recommendations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
