The Media Lead is responsible for developing and managing strategic media plans across all online and offline platforms and channels.

With limited oversight, the Media Lead is accountable for research, development, presentation and execution of client media plans. The Media Lead is also responsible for working with and leading (when applicable) internal Media and Performance Media brand teams to plan, buy and execute media programs, monitor media buys, and direct optimization recommendations as appropriate.

The Media Lead must bring creative solutions to client initiatives, working in conjunction with Client Engagement, Insights, Performance Media, Public Relations, Content Marketing, Search and Creative team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities as Media Lead

  • Possess and maintain an expert-level understanding of media strategy, planning and buying across media, including television (national and spot), radio, print, digital, programmatic, mobile and social media
  • Research, develop and plan media for specified clients
  • Develop strategically sound, technically correct and accurate media plans
  • Present media plans to internal teams and clients
  • Gather, organize and present competitive research and spending data
  • Work hand in hand with the Client Engagement, Insights, Search and PR/Content teams
  • Maintain effective relationships with clients and internal teams
  • As needed, assist with media buying including negotiating rates, value-added sponsorships and promotions
  • Analyze opportunities and sponsorships and make sound recommendations

Additional Responsibilities as a Member of the Connections Team

  • Be a leading voice in the agency and a trusted advisor for clients regarding media trends
  • Play a role in agency new business development, especially related to media strategy and recommendations
  • Keep up with latest trends/events in advertising, home industry and other client-related industries
  • Attend and participate actively in relevant team, agency and client meetings
  • Be an active participant in idea generation, brainstorming and creative thinking
  • Be a positive, motivating member of the team
  • Bring new ideas to the team and champion the use of paid opportunities to reach audiences

  • 10+ years’ experience as a media buyer and planner, agency experience preferred
  • 5+ years’ performance/digital planning and buying knowledge
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Knowledge of the entire media landscape — print, digital, social, outdoor, TV, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, demonstrating energy and passion for the work
  • Effective problem-solver and generator of innovative solutions
  • Focused on delivering great work, no matter how big or small the project
  • Well versed in applicable software and using MRI data and other resources to build and support recommendations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient in Advantage and/or Workfront software
