The Integrated Media Strategist (IMS) will be the steward of the media planning process and provides mid-level strategic recommendations to the senior media strategy team and/or client.

The IMS will maintain a strong working knowledge of the media landscape and available media research. The IMS will have day-to-day responsibility for assigned accounts and maintain in-depth understanding of the client’s overall business and marketing objectives.

Key responsibilities include leading and/or assisting in the creation of innovative strategies to meet and exceed client business objectives, presenting media plans and providing plan maintenance, including the recommendation of objectives, strategies and campaign updates, reporting on key metrics for campaign effectiveness and facilitating the sharing of data and insights among relevant teams.

The IMS will work closely with the Connections Strategy Director, Integrated Media Strategy team, Performance Media and Investments team, the Insights team and the Analytics and Measurement team in all functions of the job – being a positive bridge across the agency and an active champion for the discipline.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities as Integrated Media Strategist

  • Help drive day-to-day innovative strategies to meet and exceed client business objectives
  • Present media plans and provide plan maintenance including budget shifts and scenario planning
  • Assist with optimizing, implementing, and analyzing marketing activities
  • Report on key metrics for campaign effectiveness and develop key findings for optimization
  • Facilitate the sharing of data and insights among relevant internal parties to inform future strategies
  • Aid in the creation of client media objectives and strategies
  • Create and maintain media plan flowcharts and media budget details based on client’s various initiatives
  • Keep abreast of all invoice, billing and delivery issues; know when to escalate discrepancies to supervisors
  • Write POVs as needed and evaluate new media types / outlets
  • Provide syndicated research support during development of plans
  • Compile reports of competitive market/media information as needed
  • Meet with media reps
  • May manage day-to-day client interaction, expectations of clients and deliverables
  • Keep up with the latest trends in media
  • Participate and lead, if appropriate, face to face client and vendor meetings
  • Build positive relationships with internal teams

Strategic Thinking and Leadership

  • Work with Connections Strategy Director and other team leadership to develop strategies for media plans/buys
  • Share new and relevant advertising opportunities in written and verbal form to the media department
  • Strategize ways to most effectively use media dollars to the greatest benefit for our clients
  • Assess problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner
  • Proactively resolves issues, know when to and to whom to escalate
  • Assist in the training of junior team members
  • Capable of managing multiple deliverables and ability to seamlessly transition among them
  • Lead briefing of activation team to guide tactical planning, with support from leadership

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a media agency or similar
  • Proven success in developing and delivering successful media campaigns
  • Highly organized, methodical and process-driven
  • Exceptional at problem solving and conquering roadblocks
  • Effective problem-solver and generator of creative, innovative solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
