The Content Marketing Editorial Manager (CMEM) will manage writing and content strategy programs and assignments for content marketing initiatives for Wray Ward’s clients as determined by the Content Marketing Associate Director, Public Relations/Content Director and Connections Director.

The CMEM works with directors, public relations leads, content leads and client business directors to manage and execute results-driven written content marketing materials that are part of client and agency programs. Materials can include blog posts, white papers, media materials, native advertorials, print advertorials, case studies, website copy, magazines, newsletters, social media content and other types of editorial-based content. The CMEM will work closely with the Content Marketing Automation Manager to ensure the effective execution of content marketing campaigns and will maintain a working knowledge of the technology platform capabilities utilized in the execution of client campaigns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities as Content Marketing Editorial Manager

  • Work with client teams (leads, client business directors, project managers) to develop written content materials in all forms for assigned client initiatives
  • Provide strategic recommendations for content development, including full program strategies, proposed measurement metrics, content topic identification and calendars, messaging and distribution
  • Work with search managers to ensure content is aligned with search strategies and written to garner SEO benefits
  • Work with Content Marketing Automation Manager to ensure accurate deployment of content in alignment with the content strategy
  • Deliver content on time and on budget to team leads and/or clients
  • Write content, which may include blog posts, white papers, media materials, native advertorials, print advertorials, case studies, website copy, magazines, newsletters, social media content and other types of editorial-based content
  • Write content in a variety of voices and tones based on target audience expectations and preferences
  • Work to become a subject matter expert on client issues, products and trends
  • Ensure the highest quality of work is being delivered to the client
  • Work closely in conjunction with Client Engagement, Connections, Delivery and Creative teams to ensure a seamless project workflow

Additional Responsibilities as a Content Marketing Editorial Manager

  • Demonstrate strong writing, editing and communication skills and have a firm grasp of the communication potential of the content being created
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of how technology enhances the ways we create and deliver content and remain up to date on technology changes and evolutions
  • Organize, manage and prioritize projects
  • Work closely with the Content Marketing Associate Director to ensure strategic goals are set for all content marketing projects
  • Work closely with the Connections team (Media and SEO) to ensure consistent branding and messaging across channels
  • Work closely with the Connections team (Media and SEO) to ensure a firm understanding of how different platforms require different content types
  • Work closely with Search team to ensure SEO best practices and SEO plans are being implemented on pages

Communication Skills

  • Communicate in a clear, coherent and professional manner in written and verbal communications
  • Listen well and solve problems to achieve the most effective outcome for the client, team and agency
  • Develop strong relationships across the agency, specifically with all Connections team members
  • Be a champion for agency process and best practices, specifically for the delivery of written content

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of writing experience
  • Proven ability to write for different audiences and different platforms, using varying voices and writing styles as appropriate to audiences and media
  • Proven research skills and the ability to quickly understand and learn new information and/or products
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines
