Texture at the Heart of Sunbrella® Fabric Showtime Introductions

Client News

With a distinguished eye for design, Glen Raven Custom Fabrics creates artisanal appeal with new Sunbrella® fabrics set for introduction during December Showtime in High Point. The new fabrics focus on authentic, textured plains that coordinate with jacquard offerings for a variety of styles and tastes.

“Texture is at the heart of textile design,” said Greg Voorhis, design director for Glen Raven, Inc. “The sensation of running your fingertips over a textured fabric to feel every woven ridge, chenille fiber and boucle loop, is something that can only be achieved through considered design. Our Showtime introductions showcase this artisanal texture.”

Three featured style groups will be shown at Showtime – Native, Remix and Palm Beach – and provide a curated mix of textured solids and geometric and graphic patterns.

Native

The Native group couples a sophisticated island look with textures found in menswear. Meiji Indigo, which emulates traditional indigo dyeing techniques, anchors the group. Chapman Shadow features a woven houndstooth plaid pattern, a fashion staple. Factor Admiral is a handsome, rustic twill available in a deep color line.

Divot Ginger provides enhanced texture with a grasscloth look in a lighter, earth-tone shade. Another ode to menswear, Abbott Shadow has a check plaid pattern and a soft, touchable surface. Rounding out the Native group is Tribe Indigo, a refined take on resist dyeing methods.

Remix

The Remix group is inspired by the Scandinavian design movement towards contemporary simplicity and features bright colors contrasted with vegetable dye colors for a modern, urban look. Stripes and geometric patterns are prominent in this grouping as seen in Scope Chic, Axel Midnight and Transform Chalk.

A coordinating pop of color is provided by Fife Citron, while Loft Pebble has a soft, luxurious hand. Bungalow Slate is an understated stripe that pairs beautifully with the soft pink color of twill Factor Rose.

Palm Beach

The Palm Beach group creates a feeling of nostalgia for midcentury tropical style. The group is grounded by Tropics Jungle, a graphic palm leaf pattern, and Reign Teak, a woven bamboo pattern. Colorful stripe Scope Vintage and chenille Loft Crimson add a pop of pink among the shades of blue and green.

Twills Factor Mallard and Factor Surf highlight texture through color. The rich emerald of check plaid Abbot Juniper bridges the gap between blue and green, while Trance Tropical is a broken herringbone featuring thick, lofty yarns to give it a full and luxurious look.

Fabrics displayed during Showtime are available to the manufacturing trade only. High resolution images are available in the Sunbrella Press Room.
