The Hanley Wood Brand Builder Awards, which recognize the most innovative and effective marketing campaigns throughout the residential and commercial design and construction industries, honored VELUX Skylights for Whyskylights.com. VELUX earned the Platinum Award in the Best Website Design and Marketing Strategy category.
Whyskylights.com is a responsive content site that educates consumers on the aesthetic, health and energy efficiency benefits of bringing natural light from above into their homes through the use of skylights. Whyskylights.com, featuring simple navigation and beautiful photography, directly addresses top questions about choosing, buying, installing and replacing skylights, and provides a source of educational and engaging content for social media and direct marketing efforts. Wray Ward, which designed, developed and creates content for the site, used homeowners and trade professionals in a series of videos to tell real-life stories about the dramatic effect of skylights in spaces such as kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms. These videos, articles and photography inspire consumers by showing the possibilities of skylights in a range of homes and rooms.
“Whyskylights.com is a creative, one-of-a-kind approach to reaching potential VELUX customers – a platform designed to inform, engage and inspire consumer audiences,” said Wray Ward Vice President and Executive Creative Director John Roberts. “By answering key questions about skylights, the site leads homeowners down a path to purchasing skylights for their home. In fact more than 3,000 visitors to the site clicked the “Find an installer” link in 2015, and more than 4,000 people have sought out an installer via whyskylights.com through August 2016.”
Campaigns recognized in the Brand Builder Awards generate sales, motivate buying behavior and inspire customer loyalty. More than 70 companies submitted entries in 10 categories, ranging from traditional advertising campaigns to social and mobile marketing strategies to channel marketing programs. A panel of marketing experts reviewed entries for the 2016 Brand Builder Awards and rated the initiatives based upon a pre-determined set of criteria, which were established prior to the call for entries. Judges for the 2016 Brand Builder Awards included: Tracy McCutcheon, partner and executive creative director at Hitchcock Fleming and Associates, Inc.; Gregg Boling, executive vice president and executive creative director at Gish Sherwood and Friends; Christopher Yeich, director of content strategy at Pace Communications; and Ryan Lincoln, vice president at Epsilon.
