Agency News

Wray Ward’s John Mader has been named to the Charlotte Business Journal’s 40 Under 40, an award program recognizing the city’s most promising young professionals.

The Charlotte Business Journal recognizes annually 40 people under the age of 40 with notable achievements in their careers and a positive impact on their communities.

As vice president, director of connections, Mader leads the agency’s public relations, content marketing, paid media and search marketing service offerings. In his previous role as content marketing director, Mader was instrumental in the launch and expansion of the agency’s award-winning video production team. He joined Wray Ward in 2006 after media relations and account leadership posts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide.

“As the youngest member of our management team, John brings a fresh perspective to our 37 year-old agency and on-point engagement strategies that reflect how people consume information today,” said Jennifer Appleby, president and chief creative officer for Wray Ward. “His vision, determination and communication skills, along with his ability to get buy-in from his teams on unified goals, have been the keys to his success, and will continue to serve him in his efforts to grow the agency’s connections group.”

Mader takes an active role in supporting Wray Ward’s commitment to the community through his involvement in agency pro-bono projects. Mader is also a supporter of St. Matthew Catholic Church, the Arts and Science Council and numerous other charities that support those in need both locally and around the world.
