03/18/2011

Wray Ward, one of the Southeast's leading independent creative marketing communications firms, has hired two to its digital marketing team. Bo Hussey joins Wray Ward as account director/social media director and Eric Davis comes to the agency as digital developer.

"Digital marketing will continue to be a critical path through which brands can build awareness, influence decisions and generate sales, and we are well positioned to offer our customers the tools they need to be successful in this area,” said Jennifer Appleby, president and chief creative officer of Wray Ward. "We're excited to welcome Bo and Eric, who bring to our suite of services unique perspectives and valuable experiences in marketing communications.”

Hussey, whose background spans more than 20 years in marketing, public relations and new media, brings an integrated marketing communications approach with a fresh perspective in digital thinking.  He comes to Wray Ward from Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont, where as vice president of marketing communications he oversaw all facets of marketing, internal and external communications, advertising, promotions, interactive media, and public and media relations. He joined Goodwill in the mid 2000s, leading them into the social media sphere and helping them build brand awareness and donor relationships through social channels.

Prior to Goodwill, Hussey was with the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats and Charlotte Sting, and he had an early career in professional sports in the marketing and public relations departments of other sports organizations including the Charlotte Hornets and arena football's Carolina Cobras.

Born in Kings Mountain and raised in Charlotte, Hussey earned a bachelor's degree in communication arts from Appalachian State University and a master's degree in sports administration from Ohio University. Hussey is on the board of directors for Teen Health Connection and is currently in Leadership Charlotte's Class XXXII. Hussey resides in Charlotte with his wife, Christie, and 10-year-old daughter, Erika.

Davis comes to Wray Ward from Flywheel Design, where he was a designer and developer working with organizations and brands including Cirrus Pharmaceuticals, Duke University, HSN (Home Shopping Network) and Watts Grocery. Prior to Flywheel Design, he worked as creative director at YogaVibes and has been a developer at Animink Incorporated and Alter Imaging.

In his role as digital developer at Wray Ward, Davis will bring his development experience in PHP, WordPress and Flash (AS3). Originally from Asheville, N.C., he earned an associate's degree in digital media with emphasis in development from Ashville-Buncombe Technical Community College.

Wray Ward is one of the largest independent creative marketing communications firms in the Southeast, providing clients with programs that include strategic planning, advertising, public relations, media planning/buying, interactive and direct marketing.
