New Luxury Bedding Collection Showcases Brand’s Personality, Slated For Fall 2010 Retail Launch
03/02/2010
NEW YORK — Springs Global US, Inc. is unveiling three new ensembles for its Court of Versailles luxury collection, continuing to illustrate the exciting new design direction of the Court of Versailles brand.
"Court of Versailles remains uniquely elegant as a home brand with a fresh perspective of urban baroque styling married with classic French inspiration,” said Springs Global Chief Creative Officer Edward Cardimona. "Our Fall 2010 collection continues to capture the spirit of a sometimes irreverent modern Marie Antoinette and Louis, bringing unparalleled style to our retail partners and for our consumers.”
In "Thé Imperiale,” Springs Global captures the wonderment experienced at France's Court of Versailles when Asian trade routes brought imported luxuries of silk, porcelain, lacquer, incense and tea - all unknown in the West in the 18th century. This bedding ensemble features a centerpiece of a large-scale tea leaf design of crewel embroidery on a tone-on-tone muted berry cotton ground; a linen-like texture of the matte surface is set against the shimmer of the La Grande Siecle quilt, a complex multi-process blanket.
The gold-dusted Euro pillows of "Thé Imperiale” are appointed with four corner embellishments embroidered with metallic thread. Also featured here is the "Ormolu” sheet collection; launching at retail this quarter, it is a cotton sateen with an exceptional silk-like hand highlighted with a swirling baroque design on a generous 10-inch cuff. A particularly compelling touch is seen in an accent pillow, covered entirely in a unique technique of a finely drawn chain stitch revealing a pink satin ground.
The second story, "Belle De Jour,” is a dramatic floral print boldly etched on a regimented stripe.
"The Court of Versailles home collection has always brought to life the luxury, opulence and sensuality of the royal palace,” said Hermine Mariaux of the Versailles Foundation. " ‘Belle De Jour' is no exception, and the new bed suggests a bit of naughtiness rumored to have played out occasionally at the French Court.”
The large blush, black and sapphire blue bouquets dominating the "Belle De Jour” design are contrasted by a creamy crisp percale sheet ensemble, heavily embroidered with a formal garland design in black. Cream accents repeat in decorative shams and in a luxurious pointelle throw, triple ruffled and trimmed with velvet ribbon.
A modern King Louis and Queen Marie Antoinette offer inspiration for "Noblesse Oblige” in Springs Global's final featured collection for Fall 2010. This powerful statement is made with a rich, ripe red floral jacquard design for the duvet and matching shams. In contrast, the crisp ivory sheet is printed in a delicate floral stripe reminiscent of men's period shirtings and lawn dresses worn by the women at Versailles during the warmer months.
Richness in "Noblesse Oblige” also comes from a plush mohair throw, a deep blue velvet accent pillow beaded with gold pearls and bearing the gold encrusted monogram of Marie-Antoinette, and the introduction of the Sébastien silk quilt.
